Volunteer

You don't need special skills or lots of time to help. There are many things you and your family can do to help keep our state parks and historic sites in great shape. Whether you become a full-time volunteer helping at a museum or just take a trash bag with you the next time you go hiking, you are helping out in a meaningful way!

Become an "everyday" volunteer

Volunteering doesn't necessarily mean you need to join a group or attend a scheduled event. You can "volunteer" everyday with no special skills or training!

  • Help as you go - Next time you go to a state park or historic site, bring along an empty grocery bag. As you move around the site hiking or taking a tour, pick up any litter you find and place it in the nearest trash can. If just three people a day did this, imagine how clean your state parks would be!
  • Service Day September 25, 2010!

On September 25th, 2010, SAVE My State Parks Day, most state parks and historic sites will have a service project available for guests to get involved with! Staff will be there to help guide you through some simple projects. This would be a great way for you to take the first step toward volunteering! You'll meet some great people and do something great for your favorite site! Check out the list of events!
